The Sheboygan Press - Letters: Concealed carry won't make many feel safer

Here we have another hoplophobia woman who does not know her facts.

Her assumption about the law, assumes the only right to use a firearm is in the US Constitution. Her ignorance is with the WI Constitution.

The WI Constitution indicates the rights of citizens to use firearms for security and defense. It is hard to use them as such without being able to carry them.

Oh yeah, the amendment was ratified in 1998 so it is a current issue.

Here is the best she could do...

Just as the war in Iraq has deterred many good young men and women from entering military service, allowing the carrying of concealed weapons will deter many young men and women from entering into law enforcement careers.

That lady is NUTS! Like you said, she doesn't have her facts. Allowing concealed weapons (to the right people, a background check should be a 'no-brainer') could PREVENT major and minor crimes. Protecting our community, state and nation should be one of our (American citizens) major priorities. Imagine you are in line in a bank when the teller is beginning to stuff money into a bag frantically. You draw your weapon as the the people around you call for help while you hold the theif at gunpoint. Now imagine the same scene without any weapons (except the one the thief may be carrying).

Has reality set in?
