Lafayette County Sheriff Scott Pedley, who is president of the Badger State Sheriff's Association, wants changes to the bill.
The association is concerned about allowing permit holders to consume alcohol while armed. He said the law should require absolute sobriety.
I would agree if the following also required absolute sobriety:
1. Driving a vehicle.
2. Driving a snowmobile.
3. Driving a boat.
4. Ice fishing.
5. Hunting.
The above killed more people than any other list of items.
Rep. Brett Davis, R-Oregon, stressed that before someone receives a permit they have to go through an extensive training session to learn their rights and responsibilities. However, he doesn't oppose the idea of a refresher course after a couple of years.
"I don't think it's unreasonable to ask people to go through a refresher course. To ask that they be up on the laws," he said.
The only issue to this is the cost to the citizen. Do we want this law to be just for the middle class and wealthy citizens?
