Weapons are an important factor in war, but not the decisive factor; it is people, not things, that are decisive. The contest of strength is not only a contest of military and economic power, but also a contest of human power and morale. Military and economic power is necessarily wielded by people.

Appleton Post-Crescent believes residents are idiots

Law enforcement groups also are concerned with what they see as lax training standards. They point out that officers are required to undergo training at regular intervals throughout a year. They spend a lot of time learning how and when to use their weapons to ensure safety.

Under the concealed carry bill, people would undergo training once, in a 22-hour course, with a permit good for five years and no further training needed for permit renewal.

It is sad that people who have never touched a handgun for defensive purposes come up with these ridiculous claims.

1. It has not been a problem in other states. Are Wisconsin residents idiots to these newspaper people?
2. Officers have many, many more contacts that require the use of a weapon. The average citizen will not.

This article was the rant of a hoplophobic reporter who is too afraid to put their name to it. Too bad, if we knew we could get them treatment from their phobias.
